Fast nodal precession of the disc around Pleione requires a broken disc
نویسندگان
چکیده
Pleione is a Be star that in 218 day orbit with low-mass binary companion. Recent numerical simulations have shown disc can be subject to breaking when material actively being fed into the inner parts of disc. After breaking, composed two rings: an ring anchored stellar equator and outer free nodally precess. A double may explain some observed variability Pleione. We model nodal precession driven by companion on timescale $80.5\,\rm yr$. find broken eccentricity $e_{\rm b}= 0.6$ precess radius rough agreement size. An unbroken cannot fit both rate Suppression Kozai-Lidov more likely for high if extends tidal truncation radius.

automatic detection of the optic disc of the retina: a fast method
localizing the optic disc (od) in retinal fundus images is of critical importance, since it is very similar to hard exudates (found in pathology) in color and brightness. because of the importance of od localization in clinical applications, many techniques have been developed. in this paper, we present the results obtained from two methods, correlation and least square, to approximate the opti...

We demonstrate that generically an accretion disk around a compact object could have a new type of instability in that the accretion flow need not be symmetric with respect to the equatorial plane even when matter is supplied symmetrically farther out. We find that this behaviour is mainly due to interaction of outgoing matter bounced off the centrifugal barrier and the incoming accretion. We b...
متن کاملInfrared Mapping of the dust disc around Vega ?
Accepted Received ABSTRACT ISOPHOT was used to perform high resolution 60m scans of Vega, and these were compared with those from Dra, to obtain a Gaussian width of 22 00 2 00. The dust disc around Vega was mapped, resolving it at 60m and 90m with ISOPHOT. At 90m a Gaussian width of 36 00 3 00 was derived. In addition multi-lter photometry is The data are tted by a modiied blackbody with a temp...

Context. Typical debris discs are composed of particles ranging from several micron sized dust grains to km sized asteroidal bodies, and their infrared emission peaks at wavelengths 60–100 μm. Recent Herschel DUNES observations have identified several debris discs around nearby Sun-like stars (F, G and K spectral type) with significant excess emission only at 160 μm. Aims. We observed HIP 92043...
